Head for Home

---------------------------------

The entire trip in 12 pics -- yes, the red berries were wild gooseberries as our guidebook said (not currants, as numerous taste tests misled us.)

---------------------------------

The trek can be summarized as from Uncle Bud's Hut to 10th Mountain Division's Hut.

From 10th Mountain Division's Hut we walked to Slide Lake on the first day, when a longer hike was stopped short by heavy clouds and thunder (the day before when planing a hike, we sat on a bench in front of the hut, put there in memory of a young women killed by lightning when hiking a fourteener, so her story was too vivid for us to continue to the top of the peak in a threatened storm). On the last day we made a farewell stroll through the meadow.

Starting early on the second day, we summited Homestake Peak before the storm clouds gathered and then continued around the ridge, scrambling across pink rocks.

---------------------------------

We celebrated Bob's birthday by climbing Ouray Mountain.

---------------------------------

There are plenty of rocks in the Rockies.
